Content Activation Not Working: Sony SecuROM Issues

I don't think this is a Sims Medieval problem, per se. I believe it's the new Sony SecuROM content activation that's now in many EA games. Therefore it's more an EA problem than a Sims Medieval probl...

Playing through Steam continued to be impossible, but after I uninstalled the game from Steam and then downloaded and installed it through Origin, the popup for content activation never came, and therefore I can now play the game through Origin. This did not and does not solve the problem that the content activation program does not work as intended at all and seriously needs fixing, but it did solve my 'but I want to play!' problem.
