falonrayne Which game (1 or 2), and which lot did you start on, and which lot did you visit? Does this happen with all lots you try to visit, or only the one, and does visiting that one cause a crash every time?

I'm having the same problem. I jumped down the magic hole and the game crashed.

It's Sims 1, let me load back in and see the lot names.

Okay I went back in. My home lot is 57 Ingleside Drive, and the lot I’m traveling to is 96 Calamity Forest. I went back to the same location through the magic hole, it was very laggy and eventually crashed again. I loaded back in and decided to try the phone to visit a lot Downtown and it seems to be working fine with no crashes. Maybe it’s an issue with either Magic Town or that specific lot in Magic Town.
Edited to add: It crashed when I was going back home from the community lot.
falonrayne Syristra23 Please provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Here is the DxDiag
falonrayne Thanks, and I don't see anything problematic there. I would suggest though that you restart your computer after each crash in case there's an issue with background processes eating too much RAM. You can always check in the Task Manager, and I would try to keep non-Sims use at or below 4 GB. If it's higher, a restart should fix it. If not, see what you can disable in the Task Manager's Startup section.
If and when more people reply with their dxdiags, I'll look for any patterns to the hardware or drivers.
