@Oldeseadogge, they're referring to this story about EA that just came out a couple of days ago.
https://www.ign.com/articles/ea-sports-and-ea-games-splitting-apart-in-internal-shakeup- In theory it shouldn't affect sims games, perhaps with the rebranding Ea is looking to enter another kind of business, maybe online TV or music streaming.

EA Entertainment, meanwhile, will encompass Respawn, DICE, Ripple Effect, Ridgeline Games (Battlefield), Full Circle (Skate), Motive Studio (Iron Man), EA's Seattle studio, BioWare, and the EA Originals label. EA also includes numerous mobile games, including Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes and the recently-released Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth.

Strange how Maxis and The Sims aren't even named above.
Miele will lead this EA Entertainment, with Zapella leading Respawn and Battlefield franchises under her. Also says Samantha Ryan will be in charge of BioWare, Maxis, Full Circle, and Motive Studios of EA Entertainment, which suggests that Maxis is also within EA Entertainment.
So Samantha Ryan is a Group General Manager overseeing several studios including Maxis. Catharina Lavers Mallet is still VP/ General Manager of the individual Sims/Maxis Studio under Samantha Ryan. And Lyndsay Pearson is still working with (under?) Catharina as Franchise Creative. Phillip Ring is Executive Producer of The Sims. We saw some of these names at the Sims Summit.
TLDR: the three most important leaders of the Sims, Catharina Lavers Mallet, Lyndsay Pearson, and Phillip Ring, are not involved in the shakeup and remain in their roles. Samantha Ryan will have ownership of and manage the profit/loss of The Sims, BioWare, Skate, and Iron Man collectively as a business unit. - logionXSeasoned HotshotIt doesn't seem to affect Maxis in any larger way. The same people still seem to be in charge.
It could maybe help them set expectations when it comes to their budget by being more clear that EA Entertainment is now a separate division from EA Sports and that they work differently and they don't release a new game every year. Them changing the name from EA Games to EA Entertainment makes me wonder what more they would like to do.
But overall it should be a positive thing, EA is becoming too large which never tends to be a good thing for the consumer and them splitting up could maybe be a good thing. - OldeSimsFanNew Traveler

Thank you for the link! Had not heard of that before. Have survived 3 RL corporate shake-ups so would not be surprised if a lot of folks either bail or get sacked, that having happened in all of them. We need to just calmly wait and see. - I don t think so
