Not really a "comfort", but more of a "I don't want my happiness to end, so I will make my own universe." lol
I tend to base my sims off characters in books/shows/etc. that I've really enjoyed, but have since come to an end. This way, I can kind of continue their stories and continue to enjoy their universe. :)
