How do you feel about a potential Sims 5 announcement?

Since there's speculation that the Sims 5 could be announced soon I figured it'd be interesting to make a poll to see how everyone feels about a hypothetical upcoming Sims game :)

(Note: It hasn't been confirmed that Sims 5 will be announced or when it will come out if it is announced - this is all purely speculation for now)
  • I'm interested but I'm worried it will disappoint me I just don't fell ready for sims 5 I'ed rather they work on making sims 4 better that said I like the sims a lot so if sims 5 comes out even throw it's against my will I would be at lest willing to look at it on YouTube before desiceding If i want to buy it or note but for me now is note the right time so hopefully it's note comming anytime soon
  • I am excited but I don't think the Sims 5willbe announced. For once, I'd love to be wrong here tho! ?
  • Of course I'd love a Sims 5 but at the same time I feel like there's so much yet to be done in TS4. Not only that but I'm not optimistic that a Sims 5 wouldn't disappoint me. I don't like the brand direction and business model as it stands so I can't help but think of all the ways it could end up going badly

I don't care. I will check it out when my sister tells me about it (I think I'm going to hear about it like that because I haven't been actively following sims stuff lately), but other than that... even if it looked really nice and I wanted to play it I wouldn't buy it at release, so the announcement doesn't really matter to me.
  • It may sound heretical, but to me it sounds more like "we want more money". Whenever a game is doing too well, when most players have bought all the add-on components, you throw out a new version, which then has to buy all the add-on components again. I don't like the idea.

I am fine with my current game. There is not much information about the new game. I need to see and hear a lot more to get excited.

I'm happy that they announced Project Rene, but I'm also content with waiting.
I wish the sims 4 ran better.
  • Looks like the initial hype has died down already. Until we get more official information there's not much to discuss that hasn't been discussed over the last few years.
  • @simgirl1010 Yeah I thought the same thing. I know my personal excitement has wanned a lot, simply because I know myself too well, and I can't be hyper-focused on it and constantly thinking/dreaming of what I would like to have in the game because it will just make the wait seem that much longer.

Plus that's also a possible breeding ground for extreme disappointment if all I do for the next few years was obsessing over TS5 and having this pre-conceived idea in my head for years of what it's going to be only to learn it's nothing like I visioned.

I am happy we have a place out in the open that we can talk about it and I do check in daily to see if there's any new leaks and stuff.

But I'm mostly just focusing on TS4 right now.

Tbf though it's not just that. TS4 came out 7 years ago on an already brittle engine. But even if it hadn't, even if the core had been much more solid, 7 years is half an eternity in video game land. So it honestly does make sense to build a newer game. That I personally don't have issues with. What does bother me though is that the franchise as a whole is decreasing rather than increasing in quality with each new generation. I want TS5 to be what TS2 was to TS1 - actual improvement in deep gameplay. So far all we have seen from project Rene is just more about building and sharing. I wonder at what point EA will realise that while building is important and things like more flexibility and a color wheel are 100% needed, if there are no deep, new and improved gameplay mechanics complementing those build improvements, TS5 will suffer from all the same problems TS4 suffers from today.

Only time will tell I guess.
