Maybe each world could be divided into sections, with each section having a number of lots that can be loaded at the same time and accessed without loading screens. In The Sims 4, you only have one lot and the area surrounding it, which is not enough for me, especially since the open space around the lot is usually boring, like some park with a grill or something uninteresting like that. If you are going to limit me to one lot, at least let me edit the area around it so I can utilize it by adding objects. I know they might have prevented us from doing that so we would not overfill the space and cause lag, but hopefully there is some other design that could work because the way it is set up in The Sims 4 right now feels just too restricting.
- I would love to see a big open world, but it would require a pretty good computer. So I doubt it will happen as well since EA seems to want people with low end computers to be able to handle their game.
- I wonder, if Maxis are going to be implementing a more "open" design with respect to the towns and places a bit more than Sims 4; what kind of challenges they might be faced with. Already, I see with a modded lot to be quite taxing on hardware, makes the game stutter at times. I can just imagine with more Sims running around, more intractable objects, "more polygons" to be loaded in the same cell... I am one of those who went all out for The Sims. Bought everything. Played the hell out of it. Did the same for The Sims 2. I paid for The Sims 3, but no extra content and didn't really play The Sims during that time. I did get The Sims 4, didn't play it as much as 1 or 2, but more than 3. I purchased a bundle pack that had maybe two expansion packs, three game packs and 4 stuff packs. I had that for years until recently I plopped down money to buy the rest. I am really enjoying myself with The Sims 4, but I feel The Sims since 2 has been more iterative than innovative. If Maxis can release "The Sims 5" with more innovation than iteration, I would be quite pleased. graphical fidelity is just par for the course, and at this point should be an after thought when it comes to the next installment, especially for a game like The Sims. If the game looks like it released in 2010, but has the gameplay depth and mechanics of a decades worth of research and development, THAT would be a game to play.
Maybe my 41 year old brain is just becoming a cynical gamer ;)
Maybe I am turning into one of those "get off my lawn" old men in a rocking chair on a porch somewhere hehehehe - @CK213 I do like your idea of each world being open but a loading screen to visit a different place.
I’m not sure if I want one big world or a smaller one with a max of 15 lots. The smaller world would run better but it’s the exploring of the map that I like so much about TS3. - ck213Seasoned Scout

I would be happy if Project Rene was structured like the Sims 4, made up of smaller neighborhoods that you can travel to, but each individual neighborhood is open.
I would be extremely disappointed if that happens!
I want Sims 3‘s big open world towns to return.

This collecting aspect was so much fun! In Sims 4 you don‘t need to search for collectibles since the worlds are SO SMALL.
I would like that too, but I just simply doubt they will do it. - Anonymous

I want the game to have interconnected Towns. A "Town" would be Sims 3 size, but you can get expansion packs that add districts and expand the map. These expansions would create a type of interconnected world map made up of smaller towns.
The other adjacent town districts would not be simulated and open world, only the active town that you're in. But you would be able to take public transportation (e.g. a train) to travel to a different town with a short loading screen. This would then make you go to another Sims 3-size town.
