Missing Files for The Sims 1?

So I installed it the Sims 1 it says to repair it. Did that still says to repair so i uninstalled it and installed it then went into programs and try to get it to open hat way. It says that The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this this problem. Along with another system error. The code execution cannot proceed because VCRNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem. Only problem is I have this is is my second time installing and trying to fix it.

  • DeniseSmith4207  These are components of the 2015 and newer VC++ runtimes, which the EA App uses even if Sims 1 doesn't (not sure yet).  So please uninstall your current versions, if you have them, and install fresh copies. Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, click on any version from 2015 or later, and select Uninstall. Don't touch the older versions. You can download the newest runtimes directly from Microsoft:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

You'll need both the x86 and x64 versions of the 2015-2022 runtimes, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device.  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

  • So I need to delete one of the 2015? Yet I still need to have x86 and x64 of the 2015-2022?

  • DeniseSmith4207  You need to delete every copy you have that has a year of 2015 or newer, then install the two copies (x86 and x64, not ARM) that Microsoft provides.
