For me, all EA has to do is combine the best aspects of The Sims 2 with the best aspects of The Sims 3, remove the worst aspects of both the games and wrap it in The Sims 4 art style with a little more detail to meshes and textures. Add in the new custom furniture system and actually deliver smarter sims that they promised for the Sims 4. That's all, and I would love it.
My concern is with the multi-player, multi-platform, and social aspects they want to add and how they might try to monetize the game.
So I will sit on the sidelines and watch how this new installment to The Sims develops. As for right now, I will not buy anymore packs for The Sims 4. I won't even play the game.
Yes, the Sims Team really should revisit the code base of the Sims 2 and 3 and directly pull algorithms and systems from it - aspiration meter, Wants & Fears, memory system, open world, etc. Everything needs to be built from the ground up in UE5, but in terms of answering "How should be do this? How should this be implemented?" when these questions arise, the Sims Team needs to respect the past and use what worked!
I haven't played Sims 4 since 2019 and Discover University. I have seriously tried, multiple times, to enjoy the game. How convenient it would be if I did! But I don't.
