- Microtransactions galore? Want a recolor, please pay. Want a something to skill up, please pay. Want a go to the beautiful island, please pay.
Want a new couch? Please pay the vending machine. :( Seriously, I think there be will these types of micros and if custom creators are in the mix, I think players will be paying them, too.
The math in my opinion, why create an EP or SP etc. at the start of a Free To Enter game and only make $40x30,000 when you can sell a couch for $5x 90,000. I think we know where TS5 is going.
ETA: Some might think my math is off, lol, however, if there is a fee for just about every thing in game, then it stands to reason they make even more money with the mobile formula than a pc game releasing EPs once or twice a year. Less overhead, won't need as many devs or departments, and won't need as many employees of any type. Art dept. can handle most of it since they have been carrying TS4 for a few years now with Kits. Where Simmers have been groomed into liking the microtransaction formula and buying them up like candy. Why not expand that formula into one piece at a time?
EA Mobile can get richer, quicker.
Or my other theory, subscription service, hey kids, get these three early access kits for only 12.99 a month.
Sorry, one more, hey kids you can invite your friends to play but Mary and Sally have this new outfit for the party, don't you want a new outfit for the gathering? Only $3.00 but you will need some new shoes, too! Get these for only $4.00!! You wouldn't want to embarrass your friends and show up in your group without new clothes! And hey, while you are shopping for your Sim why not buy this neat T-Shirt for your real self? Yes, now you can get some new lute for yourself right in the game!! Seriously, I would bet money on all of this. Shipping only $15.00 but wait, if you sign up for our delivery service you can skip shipping fees on anything you order for yourself in real life, for only $50 a year!
Yes, I'm being funny, but that's how monetizing everything could work, and wait we have a new emotion! See your Sim cry for $2.00! - 11a4d9d88dcc7beaSeasoned Newcomer

Just been catching up on some news... What is the deal with monetizing content?
Is that where someone creates a hairstyle and you buy it off them?
Is that where someone creates a dress you buy it off them?
Is that where I build a house and people buy it off me?

To answer your question, a couple of days ago (I don't know the timing, I only heard about it yesterday) EA put up a job add on their website. They were looking to hire someone, and specifically mentioned Project Rene in the Job description. It called it a "Free to Enter" game. Yes, those were the words, free to enter.
Now this has many of us worried because if EA is not making money off of their game, how else will they make money? I know they eventually have expansions, but its usually a little while before the expansions release. Unless they are stripping the base game down to bare minimum and staging it with an expansion pack available upon release.
EA did take down the job posting already, (sometime yesterday, if I am correct). So they are probably hoping that will end the upset. Sorry EA, you can't unring a bell just by taking down a post. As someone already said on another topic in this very forum, EA could have simply found someone internally to take the roll.
So, will the Sims 5 get a version of the Sims 3 store on steroids, where you can't turn it off, and stop the in-game advertisements? I don't know. But for me at least, LBY, that's Paradox's Life By You, is certainly looking a lot better to me without even trying. - rjssimRising ScoutYeah, now the excitement has kinda turned into worry. I don't mind paying for a subscription or even having a store with "some stuff to buy," but if this turns out like those mobile games with limitations where you gotta pay for energy or to unlock every single thing, this is gonna be a 100% pass for me. I wanna game to play and a story to make. I don't want a tedious chore with an endless pit to throw money into.
- The now infamous job posting suggested both. The first part of the posting talked about content developed by the company, and then added a paragraph that the applicant would also work on monetization of user-developed content.
- Can i make get someone to make items for the Sims 3 game?
- Lbphart3New SpectatorSounds alot like ESO you have to pay real money for everything in the crown store :/
- LaunchSneezesSeasoned VeteranI just gotta ask, is the way the title of this thread worded a reference to Matt McMuscles?
