@Nahhfrl If you are trying to "install" from cd try this help site - sims 2 install from disc guide. If you are trying to get the digital download from Origin you will probably have to disable Norton for the install.
hth
it is a download from Origin that I need to reinstall because the game won't open anymore.
@sandya1328 , please note that this thread is 4 years old and many things have changed over the last four years.
If you are trying to reinstall the game from Origin, you need to make sure that it still shows up in your Origin Library. If it does, that is the first hurdle as the game is no longer available to purchase on Origin since October 2018.
Next you will need to do a clean install. You need to make sure that Sims 2 is properly uninstalled from your computer. If you had ever played on this computer before and want to save your CC/Mods/saved games, you will need to make sure (prior to uninstalling) to move your Sims 2 folder (found Documents > EA Games > Sims 2) to your Desktop for safekeeping. Do not copy and paste this folder or create a shortcut, actually move the folder to your Desktop. Next once this is all taken care of and there are no more Sims 2 folders unaccounted for, you should be able to reinstall the game as normal from Origin. Make sure that you download the 4GB patch and Graphics Rule Maker so that you can ensure that the game recognize your graphics card. You can do a Google search for both of these.
If you need any further help, please start a new thread and we'll be there to assist you.
