Re: Sims 2 Double Deluxe Launcher Crash
Alright, this is a well known problem and you may want to click the link. It says that it applies for Bon Voyage and later expansion packs. Double Deluxe was made after Bon Voyage and if you even have that launcher in the first place that link applies to you. However, if you are not comfortable being technical with computers, assuming you are not already, there are easier ways. I personally didn't use the way explained in the link. ( I have Double Deluxe as well)
There are many threads over the internet discussing this already. 'Mod the sims' is a great website if you haven't checked it out already I would seriously consider it. (The website that was provided in the link) Other websites are great as well.
Other solutions are further explained at the sims resource: http://forums.thesimsresource.com/index.php?/topic/273080-sims-2-launcher/
Solutions: Delete the cache. "The cache files I mentioned are in the Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 folder and are called Groups.cache, Accessories.cache and cigen.package. You may not have all, but delete the ones you do have. The game will make new ones next time" (DianeHanna-thesimsresource). You would have to do this everytime you get the problem. I have found that after deleting them it works for a while and then you have to delete them again. Other people delete their cache regularly. I believe I heard it was reccomended, although I don't remember why. Here: http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Delete_Cache_Files edit <--the link still works
Click the game in the launcher immediately: Do not give the launcher time to crash. This doesn't always work. However, nor does the cache solution.
A solution I currently use: Turn the internet off. If you are using a laptop use the WiFi on/off botton on the keyboard or disconnect from WiFi on the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. If you are using a desktop unplug the Ethernet cable or do some other internet stopping action. If the problem is the adverisements in the launcher like it usually is this solution should always work. If it is not then you may want to look through the internet to find of the cause of your dilemma. (but this should be the problem) I have found that with the Sims 2 there is always a solution, you just have to find it.
Or use the link that the previous commenter posted. You would need the expansion pack number of the Sims 2 double deluxe. Considering the year in which it was made, it should be higher than the Bon Voyage: Sims2EP6.exe Although I am only guessing on this one, and this is something you have to ask someone else if you intend to follow that link. I believe most of these solutions are by the commenters of The Sims Resourse in the link above.

I use all three methods, however recently only the internet method has been working for me. I tried to find the information necessary to use the last method "use the link that the previous commenter posted" but I was impatient so I gave up. The internet method hasn't failed me yet.
