Re: The Sims 1 Crashes on Launch

I noticed a failure in one of the logs mentioning MSVCP140.DLL and saw that is related to the Visual C++ Redistributable.
Note: Don’t make changes you’re not confident in. If this helps provide an answer, hopefully EA can release a patch.
Try-first: This might also work by simply downloading the latest x86/x64 versions but I did not test that first.
System: Windows 11, 7600x cpu, rx6600 gpu.
1. Uninstall all Visual C++ Redistributable applications
2. Visit https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-microsoft-visual-c-redistributable-version and install both the latest x64 and x86 version.
3. Set compatibility mode on sims.exe to Windows XP SP3, check Run as administrator, and be sure to click the button that says apply to all accounts before applying.
4. Run sims.exe
THANK YOU! I was struggling to get TS1 installed in Boot Camp on my Intel Mac but after following these instructions it finally worked. Adding that I didn't need to do steps 3 and 4 after installing the latest redistributables though.
Thanks again :)
