Awh I’m kinda sad that it sounds like it might not just be werewolves but weresims in general (e.g. werecats/foxes/racoons). I would’ve preferred just wolves tbh but I guess they are giving players more opportunities for options, I guess. I’m also a bit sad that the world is sounding less and less like what I had envisioned. I wonder what the CAS will be like?
Will be interesting to see how I manage to include the official lore into my story…
I haven't seen anything to suggest it is anything more than werewolves. I think all the other animals and shapeshifting talk is just playful ideas. At least that is what I assume it is, unless people have seen something I totally missed.
Depends on how you interpret the “Step into the moonlight and explore who you are after dark” phrase from when the road map was revealed. It could hint at the game pack having several options of what you can turn into, or it could just be related to the different options you’d be getting from the kits and the pack combined.
I guess it depends how one interprets the hints. I saw that as a reference to what was coming overall. I think if there was going to be more than werewolves they would have hinted more about other things and not focused so strongly on werewolves.
Exactly. The one hint that keeps coming to my mind whenever I think about this pack is the shadow on the wall that looked so much like a wolf head. What's worried me is the talk of Mooncasters. Casters to me means witches. I love witches, and I want this game to have proper witches not toned down spellcasters.
But like you, every hint I saw early on was werewolves, and only werewolves. I'm openminded and if they can give us more than one occult great, but based on those early hints the star or the show should be werewolves. If they give us a great pack, and it has more than one occult state, but it doesn't give us really good werewolves there will be a tinge of disappointment even if the rest of it is amazing. They have built this up, until yesterday, to be solely focused on werewolves. This eleventh hour talk of Mooncasters does worry me that our werewolves aren't going to be fully fleshed out.
I'm still hanging on to my optimism for awesome werewolves but I am nervous. We'll know more soon.
I'm going to be honest when I say that I couldn't think of a proper skill tree for werewolves, so that they get the same treatment as vampires. Sure I could think of a few basic things, but not a complete skill tree. So perhaps, mooncasters is a type of shapeshifting occult state that branches out IN ORDER to give this lifestate the same treatment as the vampires. Vamps have (roughly guessing here) 25 powers and 6 weaknesses to choose from? I couldn't think of that many for a werewolf. So if mooncasters are what the lifestate is called, as long as its done well then I'm good.
But it is entirely possible, as speculated before, that it could just reference the town lore, or be a last name, or even just what werewolves are called in game. (Like witches are called spellcasters because they cast spells, werewolves could be mooncasters because of their moon affiliation - and spellcasters and mooncasters sound "less scary" than witches and werewolves.)

and theres elves and lycanthropes???
I do wonder if they are doing both fairies and werewolves
Didn't Supernatural give us fairies andwerewolveshairy humans for TS3? Lightning does have a way of striking twice in the Sims world.
Supernatural in sims 3 did give several occult lifestates but that was an expansion pack. While I would love to have both fairies and werewolves, I am concerned about the quality and depth of them if both are squeezed in one GP.
I hope we can get a trailer later today.
The idea of werewolves being involved in breaking the magic realm is interesting. But I don't want werewolves to be all evil or enemies with the other occults. I am curious to find out more though.
I'm expecting a short trailer and general announcement today with a bigger reveal later this week or early next week. I'm hoping I can get out of work early otherwise I peak in on break, like I already do, and get caught up tonight. This is when adulting stinks."DaniRose2143;c-18118645" wrote:

Well it's not quite as bad for me. I'll be watching the twins today but they're going to get an awful lot of TV time with Cocomelon. ?"Darkshadow608;c-18118642" wrote:

Someone else mentioned that they could level up to achieve different wolf forms or length of time that they can remain in that form. I like that idea but would add in things like enhanced speed, strength, sense of smell. There's probably more but it's too early in the morning to think of them.- ChaoticMoira3 years agoSeasoned Ace

I noticed a lot of people feel like this means another occult. But I don't think it is.
Werewolves are all about the moon. So I really think this is still werewolf related. As much as I would LOVE faeries (even more than werewolves, sorry), I just don't think that is likely since there hasn't been any hint to it.
I think there are a several possibilities for Mooncasters:- They are just calling werewolves Mooncasters. Possibly because they'll be like werewolves but with magical abilities.
- They have a skill tree, and Mooncasting is on the tree. This could be a power that a werewolf could gain, like the ability to call a full moon or something. Making this werewolf a Mooncaster.
- Mooncasting could be a new spell that Spellcaster's get. Which could be about controlling the moon, and therefore a spellcaster could be for or against werewolves..
- Or maybe what some are speculating about sims turning into more than just a wolf is accurate, like werecats, and these creatures are just called Mooncasters.
EDIT: @Darkshadow608 lol I think I was typing just as you posted. That is sort of what I was thinking as well with my first two guesses above. I really think that something in there is the likeliest explanation. It just makes sense that they will follow a similar pattern as the other occults. - They are just calling werewolves Mooncasters. Possibly because they'll be like werewolves but with magical abilities.

I'm thinking mooncaster refers to the moon casting the werewolf spell over them causing their transformation.
I missed your comment about wanting fairies more than werewolves earlier. You don't have to apologize for wanting what you want in the game. If you want fairies more that is totally cool. I wouldn't mind seeing the fae folk in the game either. Maybe somebody we'll have them and our wolfies.- They are just calling werewolves Mooncasters. Possibly because they'll be like werewolves but with magical abilities.

I'd love to sit and talk about this all day, but I'm sure there will be plenty left to discuss when I get home. ;)- The Moonwood was a large forest north of Silverymoon in the Silver Marches. By about 1460 DR, the Moonwood had grown together with the Cold Wood and the larger forest was known as the Glimmerwood, although the elves and the locals still referred to it as the Moonwood. (Forgotten Realms)
Are you guys positive the next pack is actually about werewolves? - @Cinebar no we're not positive. This is the speculation forum. ?
- RoseQuartz7243 years agoRising VeteranJust throwing this out there - and I'm no expert - but there's a Minnesota link to the creation of D&D, which is interesting due to our maybe Minnesota-ish world we were speculating.
