Every time I launch the game on Steam, I see the loading screen and rolling text at the bottom. A few seconds after this, the game crashes completely with no error message at all.

charlottebronson Please provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
I saw this fix over on the Steam community forums and it seems to work for most people whose game is crashing:
