When I load a household in the Sims 1, none of the items or walls load correctly. Sometimes they appear when a Sims uses them autonomously but will disappear again once they’re done. When exiting to the neighborhood, the household creates visual glitch on map when saved.
I’ve tried restarting the game, computer and “repaired” it on the EA App but nothing seems to work. Huge letdown.
Out of interest, have you tried running it in windowed mode (instead of full screen)? It sounds like the glitch I had when trying to run the Sims 1 on a modern PC last year. The game was fine in windowed mode.
I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do I do that? lol

Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Here's some solutions I found online. Unfortunately they didn't fix anything for me, but might work for someone else: Cycle through window mode in game (Alt+ Enter), turn off EA overlay in your settings, Windows compatibility troubleshooter, running app as admin
JelaBee Thanks for the dxdiag, which shows a few issues that need to be addressed. First, your computer's drive is almost completely out of space. While 9 GB free is enough for Windows alone to maneuver, the lack of space is causing other issues, so please try freeing up another 20 GB. The Downloads folder is a good place to look for extraneous files like leftover installers or .zips you've already extracted.
When you have about 30 GB free space, and you can check in File Explorer (under This PC), please update the driver for your graphics chip. Here's the newest version from Intel:
Download the driver from December and run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.
If you get an error message about the driver being incompatible, let me know. It is in fact compatible, but sometimes laptop software blocks the installation of outside drivers. There's a way around this that is a bit long to write out, but I'm happy to do it if necessary.
Test the game again after installing the new driver. If you see the same issue, please increase the size of your computer's page file, as described here (option one):

Set the minimum to 12288 and the max to 16384, restart your computer, and test again.
If this doesn't help either, I'd like a bit more system info to pass on. Open C:\Windows\system32 , double-click vulkaninfo.exe (it's fine if the .exe is missing; it's the same file), and let it run. When it's done, or seems to be, click anywhere in the window, click ctrl-A to highlight the text, and click ctrl-C to Copy.
Open Notepad and ctrl-V to paste, then save the file to your desktop. Call it vulkaninfo JelaBee , upload it to a third-party filesharing site (Google Drive is fine, but make sure anyone with the link can read it), and send me the link via private message. I'll take a look and also pass it on to any EA people who might want to investigate further, but I won't share it with anyone else.
