Sims 2 glitches (steam - windows 11)

I downloaded the Sims 2 days ago and I have encountered some glitches:
- Sims will cook food, but no food will appear.
- Whenever I age up a child to a teen, the game will freeze before I can pick their aspiration. I can still enter build mode, and save and quit but I cannot play the household any more. I have fixed this by moving the sims out of their house and back into their house, and reprogramming the sim with the ReNeYuSenso Orb. It's very annoying because I keep having to refurnish their houses after moving them in and out.
- I will hire a butler, but he will become stuck in places for no apparent reason. Shooing him away does help.
- After updating the game today (5th february) my start screen has become super small, and so have all the sim icons on the side. I may need my glasses for this. (I have attached a screenshot to show what I mean) (the icons don't look so small in the screenshot but compared to the game and the frame they are miniature)
