RESOLVED - Sims 2 Legacy - Vacation bug

I've seen other people post about this as well, but I've run into a problem where my game gets stuck on the loading screen for the resort. It occasionally has the window pop up in the bottom right corner, showing that actions are happening, and my sim is going around doing stuff, but I can't see it or interact with it, and I can't even cut off the vacation because it just directs me back to the resort.

Has anyone found a way to fix this or should I make a new Sim and cut my losses? I'd really like to avoid doing that if I can. Thanks!

Yes! Here's a step-by-step guide if your sim is stuck on vacation!

First, if you haven't done so already, you need to force quit and reload the game.

Then: Open the neighbourhood that your sim is originally from (in my case, Belladonna Cove)

Along the top bar, select the Vacation button, "Vacation Destination Chooser."

Click on the destination that your sim is currently stuck on to preview the neighbourhood.

Finally, on the right side of the pop up, there will be a bin icon to "Delete neighbourhood."

Once you've done that, select the lot that your sim lives on, and remove the "going on a trip" action that they will be taking. That's how I sorted it, and I've not had a problem since doing so!

Had this exact same problem today, every single time I tried to return to the resort, you're the first person to say they have the same problem! I made a back-up of the neighbourhood save before going on vacation, it only happens when returning to the resort you are checked in to..not going to a new one or a community lot.

I tried full uninstall and clean reinstall, I've deleted cache files,  fiddled with graphics settings up and down and run it in compatability and administrator mode....all completely unsucessful.

So following for anyone else's advice.

I've found a workaround to get our sims back on another thread, so I'm posting it here for you:

A huge thanks to user RealTrillyke

"WORKAROUND/HALF FIX until they hopefully properly fix it!

If you delete that vacation world your household is stuck in, then load back into your household's home and cancel out their vacation action they will come back home! Not the neatest solution, but if you want to get back your household right now it works! It worked for me! ^^ I guess I won't be using the EP again for the time being!"

I just had this issue. This worked!  So, lesson learned:  NO VACATIONS!

  • Just had this bug as well on my sims honeymoon vacation... But the workaround fix worked to get my sims back at least. Thank you!

    Hey all,

This issue was resolved with the patch released today February 4th. This will not resolve the issue for existing saves I'm afraid, but new saves should not run into it going forward.

I'll leave the pinned accepted solution for those of you who don't wish to start over, as the workaround still applies.
