Before you do - can I just mention that if it’s about installing Rosetta 2 - I have already done this.
the game does load, the neighbourhood does load, even creating a sim works fine. But once you click on a lot, within a few seconds the game crashes.
i have managed to get the game to run for about 15-20 mins by setting all of the graphics to low, turning off shadows, high detail, etc. But on a brand new laptop, a game like this should really be able to cope.
I’m sure we’d all really appreciate Aspyr creating a patch to fix what seems to be a simple problem. Just as they did updating it to 64 bit - although that was quite a wait too if I remember.
the sims 4 can be fixed with a quick click in the settings and the game is much more intense. Why not sims 2?
please say you have a solution that does not require changing the default game settings...?
@Goth1cPanda90 , I do not have a solution at this time. I am on a Mac personally, but mine is an Intel chip one and is a Desktop model.
I had asked the other person to make a separate post because their issue was with Sims 2 Ultimate Collection which was only available for Windows OS to keep the issues separate as this thread is mainly about Sims 2 Super Collection from Aspyr and the Apple App Store.

Same here...
Macbook Air 2020
Apple M1 chip
macOS Big Sur 11.1
8 GB
Edit: found this on Reddit, and it actually works for me.
Even though you already have Rosetta 2 installed, go to Terminal, then type in softwareupdate --install-rosetta.
Magic! It doesn't crash anymore.
Enjoy the game people!

@marionclz83 , do you type the commands exactly as you posted or is there another format? Just need to know in case anyone asks.

I tried typing that into Terminal, and it did successfully process the installation, but the game crashed the same as before ☹️
