The Sims Medieval - Error 16 - Windows 10
Good Morning Everyone,
So as of this morning I decided to have a bit of a throw back and reinstall Origin and reinstall The Sims Medieval along with its expansion; Pirates and Nobles (both excellent games)
However I run into an issue very quickly.
I started a new Kingdom, New Monarch, the works. Note: This is a the base of both games and no mods or addons are been used.
In Traditional best practice for any game, I created Save 1 - Save 2, and as usual save between. However It came to saving back over Save 1 and it came up with Error 16 saying that; "An unexpected error has occurred while saving: Error 16. Please consult the Readme for Details.". I tried then to save over Save 2 instead and received the same issue.
So, I submitted and reloaded the game as a whole. I noticed that I cannot delete saves through the normal menu; Related? I am unsure. But I reloaded, carried on, tried to save the game again and the same issues persisted.
Naturally, I took to the forums and google to have a mooch for fixes around this and alas, there's little help;
Most people say "Oh reinstall Origin or Repair / Reinstall the game".. well that's all well and good but tried and tested, hasn't fixed the issue.
Then one of the most popular responses has been; "Error 16 occurs because of a file system failure which can occur if you try to overwrite a file in use or that is corrupt. Saving as with a new name should solve the issue." - Big Note: That is a work around - not a solution.
I've looked into checking permissions, running in compatibility mode, as administrator and so on and seeming the issue still persists.
If anyone has any Solution for this rather than an workaround that would be greatly appreciated. As though the workaround will work. No one should have to whenever they play a game and save it, have to literally have Save 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc etc etc then have to go to where ever they have their Saves stored and clear out. Its not practical.
Many thanks,
Stephanie
Best way I have found to get round the error 16 code is to save the game under a new name. This will of course leave you with the old save file too which it seems you can't delete from the main menu, but if you exit the game then access documents - Electronic Arts - Sims Medieval - Saves, you can delete the old save file from there. It seems to be the best way to get over the error 16 code at the moment.
