I think 90s/60s would be super interesting to play, since the core mechanics of a family/life simulator would be in tact, while also providing a newer flavor of it. It’d also just be super nostalgic and timeless in a way.
Although, my ideal would be a Sims game set in the 2000s, and all the raunchy trashiness that entails. Give me low waisted jeans, smudged eye liner, TMZ, emo fashion, bright gaudy glittery pink crop tops and baggy pants, etc. It could capture that same sort of raunchy nostalgia Sims 2 encapsulated. It’d be so fun to essentially recreate that all, from Mean Girls, to Avril Lavigne, to Britney, to the whole emo/scene phase.
There could be a focus on celebrity and tabloid culture, with players being able to create bands, become pop stars, star in reality television, etc.
