What WAS possible can be again: Driving & Flying in your SIMSCities.

Unless you're old (over 50 ); like many of us now or rabidly interested in EVERY SIM titles MAXIS produced, you are likely unaware at one time you could create SIMCITY cities; then have high adventures and careers driving & flying inside them in 1st & 3d person views. And. That The SIMS was created with the intention of doing the same. Allowing you to live, drive and fly inside your SIMCITY creations.

For whatever reasons this IMPLODED. But. IT DID WORK :) ! And. In 2025 and beyond there are fewer and fewer technological/computing problem that can impede returning to that. The competitors are already running with it. With no ill will to them, many wanted/want the MAXIS/EA combined SIMTITLES to be the KING. And. Still do!

Decades have been lost but much has been learned and the POWER possible in THE SIMS makes one dream of how impactful and amazing they could be now in CITY, STREETS, COPTER, etc. gameplay. Building the perfect SIMS to deploy and building your best SIMS to take on the grand adventures.

Whatever happens. At some point in the future. You WILL have the grandest SIM experiences ever! It's inevitable.

Cheers & Best!

  • As far as I've experienced in Sim City 4, doing the transport missions were just a mini-game. I've tried it a few times and never beat the timer, but I'm not sure what I remember the reward was supposed to be, extra money, extra type of building unlocked.

There was also an option to import the profile of sims from your Sims game, and place them in the city, but you don't get to play them, you just get updates from them such as that they got a job, they don't like the traffic, their building got demolished so they moved somewhere else, things like that. There's no control over them directly and you can't see their face and house interior.

Then there is the way that you can terraform or build a new little city, and use the terrain file in your Sims game as a world for a custom neighbourhood, which you can then build from scratch with houses and community lots, where the roads, hills, lakes, bridges and trees have survived.

Those were the crossover features that I know of.  I too think it would be great to have an expansion of exploring a city-build or world build with a macro, mayoral control, possibly by the sims. That would be huge though.

Sims 3 has the open-world? And you can edit it. And CAW it. I think its pretty tricky though. Hats off to the simmers who are good at it. Rflong7
