Your welcome ;)
If a teenager is left behind, they can easily move to their parent, because they can be asked to move in. They can also ask adult Sims to move in to them.
Only babies, toddlers and preteens need to be adopted, which is only possible if they’re orphans. - tswanson832 days agoSeasoned Traveler
I did consider aging Erin, still considering, but im so sad, she's my only preteen, I have no other kids in town, just my golden child who is a teenager who I'm planning to keep as a teen. My sim cap is currently at 28 so I will need to replace her so I will still have a preteen active in my town. I guess she will have to age if I want access to moving her in the future and to allow others to move to the lot shes currently hogging to herself 😜 I need another 3mil 500 thou simoleons just to unlock my next development site to be able to level up and gain another Sim in my town. I have been stuck at level 33 for almost 8 months because of these ever rising costs that make the game really hard to enjoy. Thank you for your comments and advice. I believe that I am stuck waiting to level up before I can correct Erins situation by aging her. I suppose I should just be happy this did not happen to my golden child teenager who I REALLY dont want to age. I'm glad I am now aware not to move sims by invitation if they have children or this is the result. Ce la vie

I’m sorry, you ran into this. It’s a really unfortunate situation.
I don’t like that either. If children are living with only one parent, they should go with them, if the parent moves in to a friend. Or the game shouldn’t allow this. A parent can’t move to another vacant home without their children either, because they have to take care of the little ones.
Not sure if it’s a bug or intended, but it’s not new. I started playing in 2012 and it’s always been this way - if a Sim is asked to move in, they do it and leave children behind. Players have asked for correcting this all the time.
We can avoid this situation, if the parent asks their friend to the home, where they live with the child. But this is too late for you.
Your Sims can’t adopt Erin, because she has her mom already. Only orphans can be adopted by a good friend. The adoption by phone is an Online Store thing for real money, and you’d get a new child.
You said, it’s not an option to remove the child, so you won’t want that for her mom either. What about aging Erin to a teenager? Then she could be asked to move in with her mom. - tswanson833 days agoSeasoned Traveler
Erin Flynn (the daughter sim) Does not appear at all in the lists for relocating a sim or relocating a household, she is missing entirely from this option in the game, i cannot invite her to move into a lot either and I cannot get her to invite others to live with her. She is just stuck at this lot she is living at permanently it seems, I can't move her nor adopt her and I AM NOT REMOVING THIS SIM, she is one of my originals I have had since I started playing and maxed on her hobby and school. I'm not trash canning this preteen because of a bug.

Note on the above images, it still indicates these two sims as mother and daughter even though they are living in seperate houses now. There is no leaving a sim who is a infant, child, preteen or teen dwelling alone in a house without a parent, the game has never allowed this in the past, as for her being free to be adopted, Nope! She is still this sims daughter... this is a glitch to my mind, and I would really rather not hear about the method I already described as not working to be what is suggested to do when it can't be done. This is clearly a new bug in the game.

You can choose to relocat individual sims or a house hold
If you choose individuals a child migh be left alone
the child is now emancipated but can still be adopted by an adult through the phone
