Cannot demolish empty house

They can still be registered as living in the house even if they are not in the house at the moment.

Move the sims and relocate the pet

Save to cloud

Hard restart game 

and try to demolish the house again

It didn’t worked, the problem persisted.

Is there any items on the property that hinders a demolishment? A tiny dog toy, perhaps?

Can you remove the playground?

I do not have this yet, so I do not know if it is possible

I will bow out and leave it to someone who will hopefully know better

You cannot remove the playground. You can only add and delete what is on the property in front of the playground.

So if you can not remove the playground, you can not demolish the lot?

I've heard there are some houses you can not demolish (can not remember which) could this be one of them?

This is not a normal lot. The playground is behind the lot. It’s part of a quest, that I can’t remember. You can build and demolish houses on the front part like a normal lot.
