Glitching when sims in another town.

I’ve just noticed that when my sims are doing tasks in another town I cannot then visit the sim it just takes me back to a sim in my own town. 
Also, before this I would go to the sim and it should’ve completed their task but it doesn’t show as completed in social tasks.
