Sims Freeplay Bought Tattoos do not appear

Okay so I created a new Sim for Sims Freeplay (iOS).  

I spent around $50k on tattoos on my new sim and then added her.

None of her tattoos that  I bought in the makeup/tattoo section appear.  Though the money is gone. 

How to get them to show?  The Sim is wearing sleeveless top and shorts so there is room on the model.
