Toddlers washing up

I can't bathe or clean my toddler so the washing-up icon is almost red. Every time I try to make the toddler take a shower or wash her hands the error bubble shows up and there is no option for the parents to clean her either. What do I do?

You have to give them a bath not shower & adult has to be with them

Make sure the toddler is the selected sim and the adult is not busy doing anything. Then just select the bathtub and pick one of two options that come up.
