Unable to join long hair event.

Hello all
I am unable to join the long hair event. I have several sims level 6 in fashion hobby. I am on the latest version of iOS. I received the initial pop up advertisement for the event but when I clicked join now nothing happened. When I view hobbies and click "tap to enter" nothing happens. I submitted a ticket and was advised to upload my current game progress to cloud, did that but received no further update or instruction.
