It's not an action in the wellness center or science lab careers. Maybe it'll be in the astronaut career? or maybe it's just a random thing. It would be cool if it did something other than blink its' eyes.

The science center career ending mentions a sea monster and possibly using it as material in the space division (I guess the astronaut career?)

You mean the one about doing an event with an elder? An elder is just a retired sim. Click on your retired sim that has a family event icon above their head. You should have either a hobby mentoring or career mentoring option.
