can’t find retired sims

i’m pretty new to the sims as a whole but ijust retired my first generation on sims mobile a few weeks ago. they were a couple who had 3 kids & the 2 oldest are now my playable characters. once retired, i moved them out under the impression that they’d still be around, which they were...for like a day, but i haven’t seen them around town or been able to socialize with them since then. i’ll go to the contacts menu (for either child) and scroll through but when i do, their socialize button is greyed our and can’t be clicked on. did they die? move town and not tell the kids?
