    Could you guys test if force closing the game when none of your Sims are in an event helps any? It could be a few finished events pop up. If so, accept them and force close again until they stop popping up. 

    See if that gives any difference in the story progression.

I'm having this exact same problem! Barista career stuck at 89%. No longer gaining career points & no story progression. I'm having a similar problem in the culinary career. Reached lvl 5 & lost the action icon to select a work event. When I try to click on it says I'm already in this event with no options at all. Can't reach 100% story completion in any career. Tried the usual tricks to fix this uninstall/install, force close, switch careers...nothing works. 😠
