STILL NOT FIXED EVEN AFTER UPDATE:
This issue was not fixed. My screen froze on a Surprising Choice yesterday morning and nothing I do gets rid of it. Tried clearing out cache. Tried force stop the game. Tried reinstalling it. Tried another device. Even tried a modded version as a last resort. NOTHING works! My game is frozen on this stupid screen. I'm so sick of all the glitches, and this one is the worst.
PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP SO PLAYERS CAN COMPLETE THE NEW QUESTS ON TIME!
My friend had this same problem and EA would NOT help her. They just told her to wait for an update and offered her 30 Simoleons. What a joke! Do these reps even play the game? I can earn 30 Simoleons just by blinking. It does not even begin to cover all the progress lost from not having access to our game for days. Not to mention how does this even help the fact that the game is still stuck and won't load. Reps should be forced to play the game so they at least understand it!
I think the glitch occurs when you go to collect a bonus on an activity and you level up at the same time. I was collecting from a hobby and it was leveling up, then the stupid Surprising Choice screen popped up and now my game is stuck. EA has no way for us to close the game and reset it to get rid of this screen. In my opinion they are too worried about forcing us to decide to either spend cash or make our Sim miserable, rather than care about our games running smoothly.
I think EA should do away with this Surprising Choice *. It forces you to spend Sim-cash or Simoleons or your sims get sick or are in a crappy mood for 8 hours. Seems very greedy and pushy trying to get our money. If they would fix it where we could exit it WITHOUT penalty of being sad and trying to make us feel guilty, that would be nice. I did like how they occasionally (rarely) would offer you a chance to buy limited time objects (although super expensive). Other than that, it's a greedy total waste of time.
There are so many ways for EA to get money already, why keep adding more? Plus with all the PC games and expansions and game console packs sold, why be so darn greedy? For real EA! I'm very disappointed, along with many other players. Just read all your recent app reviews. You're losing fans, FAST.
