Outgoing trait vs good trait

What is the difference between these two?

The good trait description says you get a bonus when being friendly with others. The outgoing trait description says better at friendly events. Does this mean the good trait is beneficial say at parties when being friendly AND when in a friendly event? Do only relationship hangouts between friends constitute friendly events?

    Good Trait: Earns occasional XP when doing friendly actions

    Outgoing Trait: Shortens friendly events - depends on the level of the trait

    I'd say the good trait is beneficial at parties and during friendly events but it won't shorten a friendly event without the outgoing trait.
