Re: clearing land
I am able to expand my land. I have expanded three times already but just can't seem to clear the land I bought. I am also on the main land that is given to you in the beginning of the game. Here are some screenshots.

@linilinguine everything is working correctly in your game.
We need to pay to clear one by one each small piece of land. Clearing one small piece will not automatically clear the whole lot.
It is only possible to clear a piece of land that is beside already cleared land as shown on your screenshot.
Okay that makes sense but even when I try to click on one small piece to clear, its not giving me an option to clear the small section. Its only giving me an expand option. Not clearing. Thanks for the help by the way! I appreciate it! 🙂
@linilinguine I believe we are talking about the same thing 🙂 I say clear and you say expand which, in Sims Mobile, means the same: to remove grass/weeds and make a small piece of a home lot usable.
