Re: Old Sims in Town

@VintageStarlette Wow, love the ‘old world Hollywood/Joan Crawford vibe’ you have, so disciplined, looks amazing. If you can push yourself past the sea of grey out the front of my place my vibe is ‘barely coping/full house vibe’ (I’ve loosely fashioned it on my neighbors IRL lol)

Back to the vintage NPCs I forgot to mention in my previous grumble “interact with them with caution”... Someone somewhere convinced me that if you interact with them enough they will be replaced with new NPCs, sadly all that did for me was give them an unspoken invite to visit me at my home 24/7. Once upon a time my house was luckily elderly free (except for granny and papa) but now they’re helping themselves to my chairs and often find them crying in the kids room 😐😐😐

  • @Here4Snacks Gray-schmay! Your entrance is fantastic. I hadn't ever seen a winding stepway up to the front door before. Really great landscaping. And I noticed the hot pink chess knight in the kids' room. Clever is your style!

Thank you~~I never thought of my vintage schtick as "disciplined" before. That's the highest compliment I could get. You see, NOTHING in my life is disciplined, so it's nice to think my Sims can boast that quality. 😉
  • P.S. Joan was with us up to last week until she morphed into Audrey Hepburn. Before that, she was Dorothy Dandridge. Before that, Ginger Rogers. I want to have Louise Brooks so bad, but no Brooks hair. Ah well....

@VintageStarlette One can only hope for an Art Deco, flapper girl set to grace us. That way your Louis Brooks dreams can be realised while my reclusive yet extravagant Gatsby dreams can play out.

I think it would be very hard to find decor that works together to suit your theme yet you’ve done it and it looks classy AF, be proud. Thanks for the kudos on the garden, sweeping the front like that helped me keep all the automated NPC intruders out of my house (the hedge at the front keeps them on the pavement), seriously at one stage I had a elderly visitor in every room, so awkward. 😞

  • @Here4Snacks Holy smokes! You mean that cool stepway is actually strategic??? You get level 40 in my book just for being so cool. 🕶️

Heh, yeah, trying to nail the b&w thing is OCD utopia. Or hell, depending on whether you're okay with allowing muted shades of blue or not. My personal thorn...that infernal brown bed. It'll have to do until I can unlock a better one. Just look away. 😉

Is there a solution to the elderly sim problem yet? I'm getting stuck in my current generation of sims because I can't find any non-elderly NPCs for them to marry and have kids with....

@AngelSpiritMuse  Start a rival relationship with one of the career npc's.  Once it reaches a certain level the npc will quit and be replaced by a new younger npc.

You can also marry & have kids with another player's sim, but you may not be able to move them in.

That's a bit of a time consuming workaround. I'm sure it works but... Really this is a problem that shouldn't be happening in the first place. Even all the new people in the new science Center grew elderly within two days!

I was shocked at how fast they turned elderly...I managed to marry two straight away, but the next day the rest had turned ancient...!
