Refill Energy - items and levelling up

When playing them game, if I needed more energy to complete an event and had already used my items then I would use a cupcake and that would add 30 emergy ontop of the few energy that I had remaining, if any. However, recently I had just used a bed to add 21 energy to a sim but after I had used it I levelled up so my energy bar was replenished, making the use of the bed redundant. This is really annoying as I won’t be able to use the bed for ages and so it was a waste. Could there possibly be an update where when you level up instead of replenishing the energy bar it just adds 30 onto what you already have?
