Sims cannot recharge energy from Bathtub

I've tried putting the tub in storage and putting it back.  I've tried moving it to another house.  None of my characters can use the tub.  There are no other sims present and character CAN use shower and toilet.

I feel defrauded since my progress in the festival and treasure hunt is significantly slowed by the bathtub being unavailable.

The Massachusetts Attorney General has gone after companies for failure to supply the items purchased in game, especially when people have paid actual money to the game. I can't believe EA hasn't fixed this problem yet.
