There is no icon available to start a shift in the space explorer career even though my sim is currently not in any activity.
Normally when this happens, it means there's an unfinished shift running in the background, and if I close and re- open the app, I can finish the background shift and resume playing as usual. This time that workaround isn't fixing the problem. I've restarted the app numerous times, even restarted my phone, and still no icon.
This is especially frustrating because as it is, I can't progress in that same sim's hobby (internet icon) due to another bug (season task pop-up) that prevents me from starting events that involve leaving the home lot, which is what I need to do to complete chapter 5.
For the space explorer career, I'm not even at the end of a chapter. It just stopped letting me progress right in the middle.
What am I supposed to do with this sim in the meantime? Just do relationship events exclusively until I get to a chapter where there's an event that takes place away from the home lot, and then I get frozen again? Why is this issue taking so long to resolve?
