I was very fortunate to get a seasoned simmer randomly show up to my very first party... which sucked so badly (it was that birthday party you have to do for the tutorial quest right at the start when you join the game) and they gave me some sage advice on how to throw a successful party, which I have followed religiously ever since...
🎈 Fill your friend list up with active, interesting players. Be ruthless, kick those who haven’t logged on for 3days +.... yes cruel and cold hearted in ways but having a full list of interesting active players means there will always be a group of people who will always attend your parties, if they’re interesting you always get fresh fun new ideas when you visit them when they host their parties & it’s fun being visited by aliens or crazy characters.
🎈Once you have a full friend list of active players take note of party ‘slow days’, those are the days where maybe one or two or even none of your friends are hosting a party, host your party on that day. This eliminates competition and increases the chance of friends having space to attend your party.
🎈Fill your house with all the career and hobby objects before launching your party. Even if you store them away for the rest of the week, bring them all out on party day. You want to make it as enjoyable & profitable for your guests as possible plus your party stands out when a player can see they can complete both objectives at your function.
🎈Unless it’s for a popular or beloved sim, or for a comical situation (like for a sim named after a famous person such as ‘God’) stop throwing birthday parties. Birthday parties are a dime a dozen and get skipped by seasoned players & even friends (not my words, theirs, but I’ve never thrown a birthday party since.)
🎈Have good party etiquette. If you’re online be polite and use your party chat, even if there is a language barrier everyone knows to say hello and understands ‘welcome’. Also if you need to leave let guests know so they’re not left hanging on unanswered chats. People will return if you’re nice.
🎈Make sure your sims are dressed to sticker theme.
Some pro simmers may not agree with that advice given but I went from a lvl4 birthday party that first week to hitting lvl10 studio parties ever since, I also love my friend list (haven’t needed to kick anyone for a while) and they’re full of creative simmers, never a dull moment at their parties. So that advice worked for me and zero regrets following it. 😎👍
(& yes that player who gave me this advice FR me at that little birthday party and we’ve been buds ever since✌️)

Good points. I trim my friend list every day of the people that haven't been active in 3+ days. (Be careful of trimming people who have been inactive for 2+ days as the timer/counter is funny and will frequently tag active players with inactivity of 2 days.)
I get about a dozen friend requests a day and I like to be able to make space for active players who are also active in this community.

Great advice. Thank you.
I went to Mumsy's party earlier today and for the 1st time participated in the chat. It made the party so much more fun.:eahigh_file: Not to mention, I got to meet John Wayne <sigh>
- themummyof48 years agoSeasoned AceGlad you did, nothing worse than parties where nobody says anything.. Like a dentist's waiting room...! I'm terrible, you write on the chat, Hi! ...Nothing... Thanks for the party! ...Still nothing...sigh...how boring can you get...!!

@Here4SnacksStrange how I always land on your post! Stalker friend! I do have a question, do you have to have all of your Sims at your party? How do you alter the name of your party? Do your Sims count as the total number of people that are able to come to the party?
I try to attend parties of players that I do NOT know just to see if they have any questions and now that I am here I also offer this place as a safe, information filled place to hang out. I would like to thank @PaQuilter1 for sharing this place with me at one of her parties! I would also like to thank @VintageStarlette for taking me on as a friend when most certainly her friend list was full. I thank all who have made me one of your friends and made me feel valued here! I would @ you all but I would mess up your ID's you know who you are 😉😍- 7 years ago
@JulesDarling Ha! We all are a little stalkish here 🤠 Before my parties crashed I would make all my sims do hobbies so they’re all present when I throw a party. One sim hosted but they’re all in the house, however since my parties bug out I now leave the host in the house while the others I ‘call over’ to complete their hobby/career objectives since you get more hobby/career points doing your own party compared to a friend’s (a friend’s payout like 60 points while yours is double, not all just once for each hobby/career.) As for friends parties I hav3 enough cake slices that I use all the party energy on sims struggling to get one type of sticker while the others I do 3-4 actions before switching to bring in a new sim. 😩 I suck at explaining so I hope that makes sense, sorry if it’s gibberish 😰
- 7 years agoNaww nothing to worry about I read gibberish 🧐 @Here4Snacks ! Thank you! I have only hosted two parties and there was such a difference between them. I kept all of my Sims at home until it reached ten and then was social in the chat and then... lol sent two of them to work. Now I know a little more 😉 TY again 🌹🌹🌹
