It is part of the incentive system - lower prices at the start then you're locked in the price goes up! (or in this case the amount of funds you get for the same price reduces.)

Many companies do this to hide price rises. Look on the internet for 'shrinking Mars Bars' or 'shrinking Kit Kats' and you'll find the same thing.

I know they shrinking to hide price rises, but this has almost nothing to do with the fact that you get lots of funds early and later in game when u are far and u need a little boost, you need to pay more for the same amount of funds. I will quit on spending for funds as I spend more money for same progress.
