Game won't launch
I see my account at the top and the server i want to log into on the right but when I hit Play, it just reloads the screen. I cleared cookies and cache and reloaded and same thing.

I'm not privy to their thinking, but I doubt they wanted to break the substitution system. If they had wanted no more subs then they could just remove the tab from Options and those that still have working Options would be locked out of subs much more effectively.
I also doubt they are they are actively trying to reduce multi-accounts for all the reasons people have put forward why it's a 'bad idea' to do so. It's a side effect of other changes. I've been able to log in with more than one account individually today and tonight. But some accounts are also locked out in a loop so it's not a single cause, would be my guess. Without a single cause it points to something other than a concerted effort to stop anything.
