Hmmm, Just to check, can you download, or start downloading any other games on Origin (any free one will do, if you don't have any older paid games)?

Can you open this ports on your connection and report back:
TCP: 80, 443, 9988, 20000-20100, 22990, 17502, 42127
UDP: 3659, 14000-14016, 22990-23006, 25200-25300
For specific instructions on how to open your ports, please visit http://www.portforward.com/ or contact your router manufacturer. Also see this EA Help article for information on opening TCP or UDP ports: http://help.ea.com/en/article/opening-tcp-or-udp-ports-for-connection-issues/
If this helps, please click the white XP button and to give me some XP.
If this solves your question, click the green solution button and mark it as solution so it can help others with the same problem. - EA_David12 years ago

Ok, so this is an Origin issue rather than TF specifically. You mention using a workaround to get it to install in the first place. What issue were you having, how was the install failing?
Also, just to check for something simple, please reset your hosts file: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034

I used the OriginUpdate_8_5_0_4550.zip And i had to change the name of the Origin.exe to Originxxx.exe Also my TMPOrigin.exe dosnt work. Even when i rename it to Origin.exe

I think something's very off about your Origin install. Did you try to use the Origin Thin Setup before? http://www.dm.origin.com/download
If so, how did this fail? - ApprovedAnonymous12 years ago
it installed the Origin.exe and the Uinstallorigin.exe Then when i pressed Origin.exe it would say file not found. Untill i renamed it.

If you run the file linked above and accept the reinstall prompt, does that fail too? Just to check, do you have the links which you downloaded the other installation files from?
- ApprovedAnonymous12 years ago
It reinstalls just fine. And i cant seem to find the .zip download. But i uploaded the original .zip here:

Ok, so there is no change to the issue after the reinstall? In Origin > Application Settings> updates are the top 2 boxes ticked?
- ApprovedAnonymous12 years ago
No only the top one. Keep "games" up to date. i tried ticking the keep "origin" up to date. But no update occured.

Try a restart after ticking the box, this should prompt any needed updates.
- ApprovedAnonymous12 years ago
Nope, I even restarted my PC and im still having the same issue. Made sure the box is still ticked. And tryed using both launchers. (TMPOrigin.exe also works when i rename it to originxxx.exe just tried it now)

It should just launch with the stock desktop shortcut, and not require file renames.
First, check for any windows updates, in case there's something odd missing that's at the core of this. Then uninstall Origin, restart in Safe Mode with Networking, and install using the Thin Setup. This should get as close to a stock install as possible, and hopefully get around the issues you're seeing. - ApprovedAnonymous12 years ago
My windows is up to date. Using windows 8.1 X64

Just tried in Safemode still did not work. Same install problem had to change the name of the exe file. Do you maybe want to try teamviwer?

Unfortunately we can't remote in to players' machines, as much as we'd love to have a rummage around some of the more persistent issues. How did the install fail, exactly? Did it appear to complete correctly, or did you get an error message?
- ApprovedAnonymous12 years ago
No it was completely perfect install. But after words (When you get the two files) I press on Origin.exe "Windows cannot find C:/program files(x86)/Origin/Origin.exe make sure you typed the name correctly and try again" . Then i rename it (apparently it doesn't matter what its renamed to it still works) and the update window pops up. Updates seemingly fine. then at the end a CMD prompt shows up and disappears instantly. The desktop icon when pressed gives a loading wheel but nothing happens no matter how long you wait. Then i rename OriginTMP.exe and launch Origin. Then i get the error where it doesn't download.

003snowy - Have you tried the following?
Just check but please don't try to make any changes yet- If you convert Fat32 to Ntfs it might take a long time.
If you are having an issue when your download reaches 4 GB, you may have an issue with your hard drive being formatted FAT32, which tends not to work with files larger than 4 GB.
To see which of your drives are formatted (in Microsoft Windows XP):- Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
- Select the My Computer icon on your Desktop.
- Select Manage.
- Select Disk Management.
On the right-hand side, you should see a display with your disks and it will give you the partition size, plus the format (i.e. (C: ) XXGB NTFS or FAT32)
What you can do:
- If you have another hard drive, see if it is formatted differently. Please consult your PC manufacturer for more options.
