I don't see why they'd do that. If Tapped Out ended it would be because Disney decided to invest in a new Simpsons game for consoles.

Running down stock before an aggressive take over of course they would do that. It makes you less attractive to buy by reducing your current assets and even makes it difficult for the new owner to sell at full price in the future.
