A interesting question regarding Santa's Tasks

Does anyone know if the 24-hour tunnel task deadline is for the tasks completing, or the thumbs-up being tapped?

For example, let's say I start the first task at 0700, and so the timer also starts then. The second task is a long one, and takes most of my waking hours. I start the third task, let's say it's 4 hours, at 2300 and then go to sleep. The tunnel tasks are technically complete at 0300 the next day, but if I wake up at 0800 and tap them, would I still get the bonus 100 presents?

I guess once we get nearer the end of the event and I'm more certain that I'll get the Naitivity no matter what, maybe I'll test it out myself...but not yet. :)

he asked this in the walkthrough. does someone have the answer?

It's for the thumbs up being tapped. Trust me, I've completed the tasks on my kids' towns (I take up their slack) and because I clicked the thumb after the timer was up I did not get the bonus.
  • I've been wondering that as well, but I haven't tested it. I would think you have to collect it within the time limit for it to count, since normal tasks don't count as complete until you collect them.

Another thing I've been wondering is, let's say Task 1 is 4 hours, and Task 2 is 4 hours, could you start Task 1, wait 2 hours, then start Task 2, so with the overlap the whole thing would only take 6 hours instead of 8? (Or any amount of time really, I'm just using this as an example). Obviously this would only work if the task is already available, but I considered doing it last night since the last task was just Lisa making a musical instrument, which is already a regular task, so I thought I could overlap it with Ned's task and it would be done faster. I wasn't brave enough to try it though.

This does work if the task is already unlocked
  • Happened to me once too. With my work schedule, I had one that got pushed back and didn't finish until early morning. It completed in time, but the timer ran out before I collected it. I still got the regular prizes but no bonus.
  • today has Ned on a 12 hr task...that makes it hard to get the bonus. Not really a big deal, but still..

Thankfully the first quest today is only 45s.
  • Answer to the question originally is no, I found out by sleeping in on Sunday morning after a night out, had to do it by 9 to complete the tasks in 24 hours, even though technically the task completed at 4 it doesn't count as complete until you confirm it (for obvious reason I didn't as it was like 6 am when I got in) So no, even though the tasks were finished you don't get the bonus UNLESS you go the game and confirm it before the 24 hours are up

So does that mean your chances of getting that final big prize are hosed?

Thanks! That may save some time in the future. :)
  • Thanks to everyone for confirming, and I like the idea of starting on the tunnels at night, although I think maybe I'll just make sure NOT to start them as soon as I wake up, especially on Friday, so that I am sure I have time in the morning to collect the final task.

Someone said that works if the tunnel is unlocked, but at least for today's tunnel, none of the Brainiacs have their task for today in their task list. In fact, a few times I've collected the first or second task and tried to go on to the next only to find that the task isn't in that character's task list...because I didn't collect the money and XP from the previous task. If I exit that character's task list at that point it is long enough for everything tapped to autocollect, and I can go right back in and see the next new tunnel task at that point.

But if the tasks show up, great. I do worry that EA might be wising up and making them all nonstandard character tasks from now on, however.
