I agree with the OP. There are several reasons why and I will list a few.
1. The sheer size of how big this game has become. For long time players, and especially premium players such as myself it is now a HUGE chore to collect all the handshakes, tasks, event items/currency, etc. every time we go to our towns. In the beginning I doubt the developers had any idea of just how big and lengthy this game would be.
2. Ease of collection. Sometimes, well most of the time, my town is teeming with activity whether it be from the current event, handshakes, or any random task my characters are on. Having the ability to collect all of a certain thing would help a LOT with the simple tap of an icon.
3. People with limited time/connection issues. This doesn't pertain to me, but those who have limited windows with bad internet, or device issues could get more done while still being able to enjoy the game.
Now, I'm not saying to make it mandatory that the game plays this way, but what harm would it do if there was a setting screen that looked like this?
Collection Settings
0 - Collect all handshakes per tap
0 - Collect all money on tap
0 - Collect on all complete tasks
0 - Collect ALL
Now those 0's would be clickable boxes to either turn on or off the settings. This would help streamline things and make it a lot smoother for those who would just like to go into their town and "get the business done" and go back to whatever they need to.
I also feel that there should be some requirement to get these settings unlocked. I would say at least be level 40 AND have completed all the main story line with all the buildings up to that point built. With this being a setting that a player could turn on and off, the players who didn't want to use this feature could leave the game as is.
Look back not too long ago when we got the update where the characters list was added to the upper left corner. What a profound impact that something as simple as that made. Gone were the days of having to hunt through a town to make sure all your characters were making money, and having to shadow buildings/decorations to find some, but you could just tap that icon and BOOM you knew who was free and who wasn't.
