In real life, I find many people put their lights up in mid November. Where I am in Canada, most people feel they should wait until the Santa Claus Parade (which is usually the 2nd weekend in November).
EDIT: Great topic, OP! :D
Where in Canada are you. Because where I am a lot of people had there stupid lights up weeks ago. I have been looking at one of those jesus scenes across the street for almost a month now. :x And Yes, i am one of those people that it bothers if you put that crap up the day after halloween and don't take it down until march (my neighbours across the street are those people). But it seems to be a thing in the area I live in. WTH?
I'm with you Panopticnic. One of my neighbors has a huge winter wonderland set up in their yard. It's been there since a little after halloween. It makes me smile every time I walk my dog past it as she growls and barks at the moving decorations.
In my house we put up the tree after Thanksgiving and take it down after New Years. That's all the decorating we do.
the giant decos? those are creepier then santa!
They have a giant inflatable santa in a bathtub and he rocks back and forth and washes his back with a big scrub brush. It's awful and my dog wants to kill it.barryriddl474 wrote:

I don't have any. :( I hope I can get them this year too!
Yes - it would be nice if they bring them back for newer players :D !
I think I have all of the light skins from last year - I had just started then. I also hope we get some new lights for other buildings too!
I wasn't playing yet last Christmas. How did you get the light skins? Were they prizes? Did you buy them with in game cash or donuts? I really like the way they look for the holidays but don't think I'd be willing to pay donuts for them.
If I am remembering correctly, they were prizes.
EDIT: or they may have been available for event currency. I can't remember.
Seems like I remember most house skins were won on a wheel, and the Volcano Lair and Frink's were premium. I could be wrong. I've been wrong once before...
That was my memory too, and I just double checked the wiki...yes, the lights were prizes on the wheel. Volcano and frinks were indeed the premiums, which is why I have neither.- Will xmas lights be premium this year? I started in 2014 and I want them all.

Well, remains to be seen.
First round the first year came via event currency........ As they did return last year- the were won off the wheel making it harder for some.
Frinks, and the volcano lair's have always cost donuts - premium building, premium skin Annathewicked wrote:

I'm pretty sure that Frinks and the Volcano Lair's Xmas lights were purchased with event currency. Otherwise I wouldn't have thempanopticnic wrote:

When i was a kid, a man in our town, Mr. Burger, lived across the street from the Chaplins -- who had a home such as you described. The Chaplins' nativity set on the front lawn included a home-made, massive North Star, which blinked on and off throughout the entire night, straight into the Burger's living room window.
After a number of years of gentle hints to the Chaplin's, and increasing frustration, Mr. Burger finally put a big, blinking "Bah, Humbug" sign on his roof, and left it on all night, hoping they'd get the message. They did not. Each year, Mr. Burger made his sign bigger and brighter, and different blinking patterns. No response. So for the rest of my childhood, we had the dueling-Christmas-lights.
My parents found the Bah Humbug sign to be scandalous. A classic example of "Wont somebody think of the children!". But that sign is one of my best childhood memories. :).- JedihntrNew Spectator

Turning some of the Xmas lights this weekend but not all. Will add lights to a few house each until mid Dec.
That's what I planned as well. I do have Cletus's up all year round, figuring that's what a yokel would do :-) annettemarc wrote:

I guess Mr. and Mrs. Burger were lucky the nuisance Xms lights shined into their living room and not into their bedrooms...that might have caused an all out war.
