I must be doing something wrong, I only get like a few hundred gold a day. I just got the towers and my town is not getting raided. I read the trick of sending out nerds, but when I come back in 12-24 hours later, I am greeted with a few hundred gold, not a thousand. I know I have a month to get 10k+ in gold, but not sure how I keep getting passed up by everyone. Nor am I really seeing my buildings attacked.
In my second town, I didn't log in for 24 hours and NOT A SINGLE BUILDING WAS UNDER ATTACK. It has a lower town defense level too. While I don't care to complete the event for the that town, just saying that neither of my towns is getting gold, or raids. When I go raiding, it seems like I go to some of the same towns. I know I've seen certain ones 3 days in a row.
Have you tried the strategy of attacking only houses in towns that are not defending? One nerd per house, 5 nerds per such town.
The way things are at the moment, you really cannot make much from people attacking you and clearing shields.
How do I have any knowledge which random town I enter won't be defending? As I mentioned, it seems I get some of the same towns on a daily basis. My primary gold income right now is the off chance the towns I attacked hit expire. I don't bother going after the 16+ hour towns as that uses a lot of nerds. A number of the towns I enter have 0 buildings to hit, and when I do find one less than 16 (like 10-11-12) it seems those get stopped.
Overnight I reduce the timer to 6 hours or so.
You get an idea of who is not defending from what their town looks like. Burning buildings, burnt out buildings. And then agreed on conventions. Hail Ants signs for example.
1 nerd per house or you waste them. Castles are likely to be defended.
See Maxx's advice if you don't want to be spending the time looking around the town. Some fraction will not be defending.
Good luck with it.- I wish I'm only level 8 so there is no way I will get past the third prize :(
- People can't get all the prizes: Complaints that they can't have everything handed to them.
People can get all the prizes no problem: Complaints that it's too easy.
Perhaps a middle ground is a good idea, but really... Complaints here are overboard. jimmytagz wrote:

Jim: I felt the same way on my first event, which was xmas 2013. And in my B-town, I started it with 2-3 days to go in the Stonecutters event. Hope you are having fun anyway.- Something I think to make the event better would be if they had added some non-premium, non-elixer based items to buy. This is the first event where this has not been offered. I got the chicken coop and some banners, nut will not spend more donuts until the Halloween event. With one prize to go I'm just thinking of sitting back and letting my town get pillaged, except the castles so I can get gold and elixir should EA decide to do something more.
Big bummer on the no donuts thing. They have always done donut options in the past, at least as far as I know... keithzilla208 wrote:

That's actually the exception more than the rule. Since I've been playing, two events out of six have given donuts for extra event currency. I'm pretty sure that one event from before I started had that, but I think most of them didn't.richardaca969 wrote:

 I'm with you with this one.nicnerd wrote:
It might be easy if the game did not crash every time I try to attack another person. I I tap on the random encounter button, CRASH. I tap on the REVENGE button, CRASH. I go in and out of the game for about 20 minutes before I just give up.
I had the same problem and was ready to file an EA ticket when I finally realized I hadn't completely shut down my iPad in nearly a week. Once I shut down and restarted, the game stopped crashing (except when I log out and then log in, but that's a small annoyance).
I am finding the random Springfields a refreshing change from the 24-hour neighbor limit. No scramble to find good playing neighbors plus I invade when I want to without that 24-creep in visit timing.- I've kind of neglected my town the last couple days due to being busy at work but I've already collected about 28k in gold. With over a month left on the event I will easily get all the prizes. I've noticed the only time you're highly rewarded is in the morning after you've sent the nerds out to raid the night before. I guess because nobody is awake?

Its because you need to refresh the memory (RAM). Shutting down wipes the RAM clean. Just force closing apps by double clicking the home button won't clear all the RAM.
