Clear Your Roads

I've been advising people to get rid of all their excess streets pretty much since I started playing.

I have 1 section of street. It connects to the Squidport so my characters have plenty of room to wander in. I use concrete everywhere else in my town - and I think it's more realistic as to what a real small town like the one I grew up in and live near now are like. Streets with sidewalks are limited to the shopping district and high rent areas - everywhere else people walk on the street or beside it.

In this event the Gamblers all quickly migrate right to my Casino area. I don't have to search for them because they come to me. When you visit neighbors the game randomly drops Gamblers on the streets so... In my town just scroll toward the ocean and there's a string of Gamblers headed toward the Casino. I would put my street where the casino is (or vice versa) but it would mess up my Heights and Railyard crafting system... And it just occurred to me that with the new area select function I could move them all easily... Doh! I'll have to do that later - supper's almost ready...

In every event I've played except this one and the one with the ding dang flying elves all the invaders in my town always migrate to my street area, making them super easy to find. Not just for me, but for my neighbors.
  • I hate visit friends' towns with no road... I gotta search high & low for the gamblers. :x
  • Head towards the SH entrance and you'll find gamblers shortly.

I have a couple main roads that lead from the mountains to the casino. Of course, my town isn't very big....

I feel this way, too. In fact I give up and go on to the next neighbor. And in my own towns I know where the gamblers are: they're marching down the road straight to the casino where they all collect.
  • Also not clearing roads. I have put all my casino stuff in the lower east corner, which is otherwise empty with a street, and the gamblers all head that way.
  • If its not for you, its not for you.
The temp removal of a large majority of my roads doesn't hurt me or annoy me too much. And I'm fairly sure my neighbors would complain to me if it bugged them a bunch - but the roads I keep tend to be at the landing - so they probably don't notice too much.

Also - not to be rude, but I play for me, helping my neighbors is a side-bonus... if anyone wants to claim they play for their neighbors they can, but meh on my believing you - you play for your enjoyment of the game too. I try to help them - but I'm not being put out to make it "better" for you - skip me or drop me if needed, I'm a good neighbor - I'll find less picky ones.

And like its been said, the removal of the roads makes it easier after the event to integrate all the new junk.... some of us like it, some don't no biggie, certainly wouldn't remove people for it- how silly.
