I too am suffering from the constant completion sound.
I've been playing for a few years and most often when there are prize boxes available I don't ever see them as I already have most everything.
As for playing without sound, I would however sound or no sound with the contant cycle happening the game play is extremely sluggish.
It is hard to tap on characters, buildings, even just moving around the screen is slow and difficult, often having to tap or swipe multiple times to get it to respond.
I've all but given up trying to play until this gets fixed.
