Some have reported having to confirm routinely that both switches for notifications are set to OFF. Be sure to check in the game where you confirm donut spend, as well as in your device's list of apps, within the settings for the Tapped Out app.

Personally I think you should leave them on, just deny you heard anything, or even have a phone. "You heard who, Homer Simpson? Yeah OK; uh, you're not driving, right?"

What was the notification for that made him day the line about Bart? I've never heard that one before. Then again it wasn't until the last few weeks that i ever got the better put some pants on bit.

My phones always on vibrate so I don't hear the notifications but I figured I'd tell the OP...

I have never heard that notification. But I remember last year they added a new notification for when a friend visited you during Vday so in the middle of English class I hear '"You choo- choo- choose me?" Only me and a few people sitting by me heard it and we started cracking up.

I hate that I have push notifications OFF but yet I still get them. I can't put my phone on vibrate in public because I'm almost always in public and need to hear my phone ring. I don't always feel the vibration. What's the point in turning off notifications if they don't really turn off! VERY ANNOYING

I don't understand why this is happening to some but not others. I have no problems with notifications remaining silent, and I suspect millions of others don't or there would be much more uproar about it.

Maybe if those reporting the problem, included:

- what OS version
- what device
- confirmation of trying: toggle ON THEN OFF AGAIN, of BOTH NOTIFICATION SWITCHES
- time of day of most recent unexpected notification

then maybe we could identify a pattern. It doesn't make sense.

Oh, how I love it when it goes off unexpectedly! Once in a while, an update might reset the push notifications option, so always check on it regardless.
But the first time that it went off for me was a few years ago and my ipad was on the other side of the living room. It was late at night and my husband and I were watching a scary movie.
Cue Homer with that random drooling sound push notification. I knew what it was, but my husband literally jumped up, thinking that the house was haunted.
Best push notification ever!

I just love the randomness of hearing Homer's voice.. There have been countless times where I'll be hanging out with friends having a couple drinks and in the middle of our conversations Homer will yell out "Better them than me!" and we bust out laughing, especially when it fits so perfectly in with the conversation. Unless I'm at work, I like to keep the notifications turned up..

But goodness how embarrassing it is to forget to turn your ringer off and your standing in the elevator when it goes off.. Yeah - that's happened a few times to me :oops:
