Your analogy is not true in any way, shape or form. If I buy a product and then the next day the store announce a sale, then they don't have to take it back and re-imburse me if there is nothing wrong with it. Most stores will give you store credit, but that is a nicety, they don't have to do anything.
Equally the sale of digital goods aren't covered by the same laws as physical goods anyway, be it music, films or in app purchases. How do EA know what you spent it on, maybe you bought other premium items with it? What if you bought the whacking day items with doughnuts 3 days ago, are you entitled to a refund? What about 4? Wheres the cutoff?
Point of the matter is, at the point you paid for the items, you should have been willing to pay that much. You still have the item, you haven't lost anything.
